The personal qualities, experience and attributes of board members are paramount in ensuring that a company has an effectively functioning Board. These fiduciaries are empowered to steer the organization by adopting sound ethical, legal and financial guidelines and policies, as well as ensuring the enterprise has the strategies and resources for long-term success. Finding the “right” board members is a bigger challenge than ever before, due to the myriad of challenges and issues that companies face today in the globally changing environment. One of the toughest challenges a company faces is finding board members who possess the necessary skillsets and experiences, personal attributes to work well together, and have a passion for making a difference in the world, as well as being a steward to others. Despite the challenges associated with finding the “right” Board talent, based on industry surveys, only approximately 30% of Board positions are filled with the use of executive search firms. However, we anticipate that this percentage will increase due to the increasing demand for qualified, diversity candidates.

After completing the Board Questionnaire one of the Principals of The Carter Group will  have a follow up confidential conversation by phone or in person. Having a resume, biography or CV, will aid in facilitating our interview, as well as be important should there be new opportunities that arise. Over the upcoming months we will be discussing with client companies, investors, and other parties their needs for Board members, whether it will be for managing/corporate or advisory (usually, clinical or scientific) boards.  Meanwhile, The Carter Group has additional tools and information available in the Resource Center.
