The Senior Control Systems Engineer combines the skills of design, PLC programming, HMI/SCADA programming, and industrial networking to design, program, and commission industrial control systems in a variety of industries. To be successful in this position you need to be able to self-perform all the required tasks on a project with little to no assistance. That doesn’t mean that you don’t have a team around you to help, but it does mean that you should be the one providing help to others more often than needing it.

Your specific duties as a Senior Control Systems Engineer will include:

  • Understand project scopes and balance client’s needs and expectations with project schedules and budgets
  • Architecting big-picture solutions for your projects
  • Network design
  • Developing controls descriptions
  • Programming HMI/SCADA packages such as Wonderware, FactoryTalk View, Ignition, Win-CC, and others
  • Programming PLCs such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Modicon, GE, and others
  • Configure operating systems and virtual machines
  • Manage 4-6 other team members as needed to successfully share project responsibilities as required


  • BS degree in Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Ability to manage projects
  • Ability to manage 4-6 other engineers is huge plus
  • Approximately 7 or more years of experience (proven expertise is more important than number of years)
  • Thorough understanding of PLC programming best practices
  • Expert level on at least one major PLC hardware platform including Rockwell (Allen-Bradley), Modicon, GE or Siemens
  • Expert level in at least one major HMI software platform including Wonderware System Platform, Rockwell RSView SE or GE Proficy

Willingness to travel (up to 20% of the time) to customer sites as required
