The Recruiting Process
Most important to a successful recruiting mission is a thorough understanding of your operations, the specific requirements of the position to be filled and the corporate environment and management style into which the new employee will be placed. Using a proprietary process called Dimensional Search®, we determine the skills, experiences and personal characteristics necessary to be successful in the position.
Our recruiting process is conducted through referrals and by contacting people in the work disciplines and businesses where qualified candidates are most likely to be. We do not rely on unsolicited resume flow or blind ads.
The talented people we approach are generally not looking for a new position. Most likely, they have not circulated their resumes, nor are the currently reading help wanted ads. They are the two-thirds of the qualified workforce who are unreachable except through a custom recruiting approach. They are, however, people who may be interested in an opportunity when it is brought to their attention in a professional and discreet manner.
Sanford Rose Associates® – Santee recruiting assignments rely on our knowledge of the industries and occupational disciplines in which we recruit. We also use the best possible technology to manage client and candidate information.
Our inquiries are made in strict confidence, and your company is not identified until a candidate expresses definite interest in the position. If we feel there is a fit, we then take steps to further evaluate and recruit the candidate.

Once we have identified potential candidates, we perform in-depth interviews with each to determine if they meet all client requirements. Additionally we will uncover any personal or family issues that would restrict the candidate’s ability to join our client. In evaluating potential candidates, our search consultants use our Dimensional Search® process and:
- Match the candidate’s educational, professional and occupational skills to our client’s specific job requirements and needs.
- Confirm that the candidate’s past experience and successes will effectively contribute to achieving our client’s current and future goals.
- Verify that a candidate’s personal style will complement the corporate culture and will mesh well with the hiring manager’s personality.
- Evaluate the candidate’s long-term potential to take on additional responsibilities beyond the current needs.
As candidates express interest in the opportunity, we evaluate each against the Dimensional Search® criteria for the open position. We present for interview only those individuals who best fit the assignment pro-file. We will perform preliminary reference checks and education/certification validations prior to presenting the candidate.
After the interview or interviews, we debrief both you and the candidate, then follow up to ascertain the candidate’s interest, provide additional information and resolve any misunderstandings. We assist in composing and extending the offer and in negotiating any changes. When needed, we can also provide relocation assistance and cost-of-living comparisons. Once the offer is extended, we stay in constant touch with the candidate and his or her family to resolve remaining issues and facilitate a prompt acceptance and early starting date.
When needed, we can provide relocation assistance through our business partnership with a worldwide relocation service assisting with the sale of a new employee’s existing home, providing cost-of-living comparisons and helping him or her find a home n the new location. We maintain a similar partnership with a leading mover of household goods.

What We Do
Sanford Rose Associates® – Santee works on behalf of client companies to search for and recruit highly qualified professionals; all fees related to the search are client-paid. In every search we establish a solid working relationship with the client company. This includes developing a thorough understanding of the position specification, organizational structure and company culture, as well as the client’s expectations for the prospective employee.
We then search for the best candidates, using our extensive network of referral sources and our central database of already identified candidates. Our job at this point is twofold: To determine whether a person’s qualifications, interests and objectives are consistent with the opportunity, and To brief the prospective candidate on the position requirements. Only if we determine that there is candidate interest and appropriate qualifications, will we discuss the candidate’s credentials with the client and arrange for an interview. Once a mutual interest is established between the client and candidate, we become facilitators.
Your search consultant will brief you thoroughly on the client company and the interview process. Your Consultant will assist in negotiating all aspects of any employment offer and will help identify any problems that may arise, working with you to resolve them. Counsel on cost of living and relocation issues also can be provided.
Most of the people we approach are not actively in the job market. Frequently, they are qualified professionals in satisfactory situations interested only in having exceptional career opportunities brought to their attention for serious consideration.

Meet the Staff
John is President and owner of Sanford Rose Associates® – Santee and is a partner in the Manufacturing Sector Group.
Sanford Rose Associates® – Santee is located in South Carolina. There are an additional 60+ partner offices across the US. Search services are partially retained and exclusive, contingent.
John Malloy has been doing Executive Search for nine years. John and his partners only recruit for positions they have either personally held or had reporting to them. This includes a wide spectrum of titles including President, CEO, CFO, VP, Director, and Manager. Business sectors include manufacturing and distribution in capital goods, automotive, medical, aerospace, building materials and electronics.
John has a BSEE from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His added education includes courses at Harvard, Michigan, Marquette and South Carolina. John and his team have consistently been among the franchise system’s top offices. For twenty five years preceding Executive Search, John‘s career was in engineering and manufacturing. John was EVP of EDAC Technologies, a Michigan based supplier of Engineering Services to Automotive and Aerospace. John was later President of Modern Machine Works and Aztec Systems. Modern Machine was a contract manufacturer of machined components for engines, pumps and compressors. John has served on the Board of Directors of both public and private companies.
With close to 400 placements over the past nine years, the metrics used to measure success include: 80% of all placements remain at least four years. Over half have received a promotion within one year.
Because of his strong technical background, John and his partners have the ability to work with hiring managers to determine the skills needed to succeed. John and his team have demonstrated that first hand experience in performing a job dramatically increases the ability to find and qualify successful candidates.
John has won many awards and been recognized by clients and peer groups. He is most proud of being a case study by Harvard of successfully planning and implementing Strategic Plans. John is CPC as certified by NAPS.
Kathleen Truax is a former University of Wisconsin Badger. Her course of study included Accounting and Information Systems.
Kathleen has been involved in manufacturing for nine years. Her background includes: Human Resources, Accounting, IT Manager, Systems Administration, and Recruiting.
She has had extensive exposure in cost accounting, network installation, systems administration, engineering interface, purchasing, and QS9000 certification.
She lives in South Carolina with her husband Jeremiah, son Tyler, and two daughters Brianna and Megan. Kathleen enjoys golf, music, and college football.
