It was cryptic, but the caller sounded in distress. Then, the dispatcher heard another voice ask, \u201cWhere\u2019s the money? Who are you talking to?\u201d<\/p>\n By the time police arrived at the Ryan Homes model home at the Shipley Homestead development in Hanover, Md., the man who had made the call wasn\u2019t breathing. Steven Wilson, 33, a father of two, was pronounced dead at the scene. He had been shot in the upper torso, the victim of a robbery-homicide.<\/p>\n Christa Amidon<\/a>, a former model home sales agent for several large builders who now works as a recruiter for Berkley, Mich.\u2013based construction placement firm The Birmingham Group<\/a>, reports that while working as a consultant to sell homes for D.R. Horton, the company coordinated hands-on safety training for sales agents. \u201cWe actually had an entire sales meeting where they brought in experts and taught us a self-defense class,\u201d she recalls.<\/p>\n
